Streamliner cars, a class of streamlined passenger railroad vehicles, were produced in North America from the 1930s to the 1960s for long-distance travel. Often featuring amenities like stewardess service, observation lounges, and reserved seating, these cars were modernized post-World War II by U.S. railroad companies seeking flexible, individual car designs. Derived from the Pioneer Zephyr, streamliner cars were built by the Budd Company, Pullman Standard, and ACF, with Pullman cars having a smooth body surface and others a ribbed one.
